Our Vision at Lifepoint Church is to
Love God, Love Others, and Love our Community.
Our Values
1. The Bible Is Our Ultimate Source of Truth.
The Bible is our source of faith, rule and conduct and applies to our lives today. The Gospel message is a central theme that is woven throughout the entire Bible. This message holds the power to bring salvation and change lives for anyone who believes it.
2. The Evidence of God's Presence Matters Most.
Authentic spirituality takes place as our heart moves closer to God. As our relationship moves into closer proximity with him, His will and character begin to grow in us, continually transforming us into Christlikeness. When this happens, we begin to reflect His love, compassion, wisdom, and integrity of heart in everything we do. We develop a giving spirit that compels us offer our time, energy, talents and finances toward the fulfillment of God’s will, and the increase of His Kingdom. Nevertheless, the focus must be on who and what we are becoming, not only what do.
Because our ability to know God and be transformed is innately enabled through our connection with the person of the Holy Spirit, we pursue greater closeness with through prayer, studying the Bible, and the use of other spiritual disciplines. Our hope is not simply to have the Holy Spirit, but to have Him fill us.
This infilling of the Holy Spirit gives us greater joy, brings us deliverance, empowers us to serve, and liberates us to express our love for God with greater freedom. We believe that Jesus still desires to move in miraculous ways through His followers.
3. Everyone Deserves to Hear About and
Experience Jesus.
All we’re saying is that we take seriously what Jesus Christ told us to do in the Bible. Jesus said to his first followers, who were living in Jerusalem at the time: “You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and then to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
As a church family, we’re not going to be satisfied until every person in Greene County, and multitudes around the world, have had the opportunity to hear about, understand and respond to Jesus Christ’s offer of forgiveness and reconciliation with God. Every dollar our people give – every prayer our people pray – every hour our people serve at LifePoint Church is dedicated to making this kind of impact on our world.
4. Following Jesus Brings Transformation.
Jesus’ parting challenge to the church as he ascended into heaven (Matthew 28:19-20) was for us to go and make DISCIPLES. Disciples of Jesus are made, not born. Disciples result from a deliberate process of skill training and spiritual formation that brings a follower of Jesus to a place of deeper spiritual dedication and loyalty.
At LifePoint Church, we’re not here to build a monument to ourselves. We’re here to see people, not only make a decision for Jesus Christ, but then to go on and become true men and women of God. This is how we measure our success at LifePoint Church; not by the physical size of our building or the amount of the offerings or the number of people on our staff. We measure success by the quality of disciples we build for Jesus Christ, and how well the resemble Him; inside and out.
5. Connected Followers Become Healthy Disciples.
This value is build on two principles:
First, that people need to be connected in a caring community. We believe that having healthy, caring relationships with people is as crucial for our spiritual survival as food is for our physical survival. We believe that “it took people to make us sick and God uses people to make us well again.”
For so many of us, it’s when we first experience a loving, supporting, accepting community of Christian friends, that God is able to begin the healing process in our lives. And we not only need a place where we can receive this kind of love and support, but also a place where we can give it to others.
Secondly, every believer has a God-given ministry. We believe that every single follower of Jesus Christ has at least one spiritual gift. And if every follower of Jesus Christ has a spiritual gift, then each of us has an area of ministry for which God has gifted and designed us. What this means is that God wants every follower of Jesus to use their lives to make a difference for eternity.
6. Everybody Matters.
We celebrate God's gift of the family as expressed in the Bible, and we are dedicated to a ministry of prevention rather than intervention, when it comes to preparing our children for their future in the Kingdom of God.
We will deliberately pursue, reach and develop the next generation of families (ie. husbands, wives, mothers, fathers) and leaders, as we strategically, and passionately minister to the young, from birth through college. Because reaching the next generation is of such vital importance to us, the use of our money, energy, building space and human resources will reflect this as a priority.
We also value and honor those who have blazed a trail before us, and upon whose shoulders we stand. We believe that the senior members of our family offer great wisdom and value to our experience, and that they should share in “carrying the baton” in our mission, rather than give it up.
7. Faith-filled Risks Achieve God's Purposes.
One of the most searching verses in the entire Bible is Hebrews 11:6: “And without faith it is impossible to please God.” The key word here is the word “impossible.” The Bible does not say “improbable” or “unlikely” – it says “impossible.”
Now this truth applies to the way church families conduct themselves just like it applies to how individuals conduct themselves. God delights in people who walk by faith.
· We’re not “foolhardy” – but we are “risk takers” for God.
· We believe in “pushing the envelope” for Jesus Christ.
We believe that the organizations and the people God uses are always the ones that are “leaning forward in the saddle.” And this is the kind of church we’re committed to being. When the Lord shows us something that we believe He’s calling us to do for Him, we step out in faith and take the risk. And we believe that the Bible testifies to the fact that God’s richest rewards are reserved for those people and those church families who are willing to live by faith like this.
